What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

I encourage my clients, through a person-centered approach, to feel safe by creating a space free from judgment that allows for full self-expression and for them to connect with their most authentic selves.

What tools do you teach in individual therapy?

The tools I teach primarily depend on what my client needs. This often includes how to process and regulate emotions, develop effective self-talk, communicate and set boundaries, and stay in the present moment even in the face of challenges.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy?

Progress can take different forms. Clients often tell me their situation is better, they feel better, or others close to them see a difference. In therapy, I often see a client being more honest with themselves which enables them to accept where they are at and feel the feelings or thoughts they have been resisting or pushing down.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement individual therapy?

Clients I see that tend to have better outcomes often engage in consistent self-care such as exercising, meditation, fostering important relationships, and engaging in personal hobbies.

What should someone do to prepare for starting individual therapy?

I encourage my clients to be prepared to be honest about what is going on and what they want out of therapy from the first session and onward. Doing this will enable your therapist to support you effectively and help you reach your goals.
