You’ll get the most accurate information if we know where you’re seeking care, as insurance coverage and self-pay rates vary by state.
Below are the insurances we accept in your state. Don’t see yours listed or don’t have insurance? You can still get help through self-pay.
*This is a common co-pay range for mental health services with an in-network provider; however, you may have a different co-pay or other out-of-pocket costs (such as a deductible), dependent upon your specific plan’s benefits. After confirming that the provider you’d like to work with accepts your plan (over the phone with our support team or on the provider’s profile), please contact your insurance to determine your exact financial responsibility, prior to scheduling.
Get individual therapy for depression, stress, and more (for yourself or your child/teen). Or, work through your unique relationship challenges in couples/marriage or family therapy.
Reduce or manage symptoms of mental health conditions like anxiety and ADHD, with psychiatric medication.
Psychiatry at Thriveworks focuses on managing your mental health, typically with medication. Sessions involve evaluating your symptoms, diagnosing if needed, and medication management.
What we prescribe
We’re able to prescribe medications such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, and other non-stimulant medications. In some states, certain providers may offer stimulant medication for the treatment of adult ADHD.
Our dedicated providers have an in-depth understanding of the underlying neurobiology that can contribute to mental heath disorders. You’ll work together to determine your individualized path to wellness.

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
If you don’t have insurance or your plan doesn’t cover mental health services, you can use self-pay instead.

Thriveworks is a low acuity mental health provider, which means we generally assist clients who are experiencing mental health symptoms that are categorized as ranging from mild to moderate.
Individuals who are currently experiencing severe mental health concerns or crises, have been recently hospitalized within the past 3 months due to mental health-related complications, are experiencing suicidal ideation, or who currently have severe substance use concerns are advised to seek mental health services from in-patient mental health care providers.
For immediate assistance with physical or mental health-related issues, contact 911 or any of the resources linked to on our immediate help page.
No, at Thriveworks we offer online psychiatry only. That means you can meet with your provider from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere else you have internet.
Medications may vary by state and provider. Thriveworks can prescribe anti-anxiety medications (such as Prazosin and Vistaril), anti-depressants (such as Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Zoloft, Prozac, etc.), mood stabilizers (such as Lamictal, Depakote, and Topamax), stimulant ADHD medications (such as Adderall, Concerta, Ritalin, and Vyvanse), non-stimulant ADHD medication (such as Strattera), and more.
If your prescribed medication is not working, or you are experiencing side effects that last beyond their adjustment time, talk with your provider to adjust your dosage or to find a new medication that works best for you. Don’t take more than the prescribed amount, and never switch medications without consulting with your psychiatric nurse practitioner.
No, taking medication is not a required part of psychiatric treatment. However, many psychiatric providers offer either limited psychotherapy treatment or medication management only, so it may be worth talking to your provider about whether psychiatric treatment or therapy would be right for you.
Therapy, provided by our counselors and therapists, addresses emotional and behavioral challenges using therapeutic techniques for mental well-being. Psychiatry, led by our psychiatric nurse practitioners, involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions with medication.
Psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrists both assess, diagnose, and prescribe medication. Psychiatric nurse practitioners complete a bachelor’s in nursing and a master’s and/or a doctorate in psychiatric care, while psychiatrists attend medical school and have specialized training in psychiatry.
At Thriveworks, our nurse practitioners practice under the supervision of board-certified psychiatrists. In some states, a nurse practitioner is able to practice independently, just like a psychiatrist.
Clients are required to reschedule or cancel their appointments at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to do so may result in a late cancellation fee of $135 under the following circumstances:
Cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours of the appointment. Not showing up for the scheduled appointment. Being more than 10 minutes late for a 30-minute appointment or 15 minutes late for a 60-minute appointment, unless the session is resumed and care is delivered.
This policy is designed to provide clients with the flexibility to make last-minute changes when necessary.
Thriveworks offers a range of services, in addition to psychiatry / medication management, each designed to meet specific needs. Our goal is to provide the right kind of support for every challenge you may face.
