My go-to approach for treating anxiety is cognitive behavioral therapy. I find the most benefit in CBT because it addresses the root of people's anxieties/fears and engages the client in challenging these thoughts to develop a more positive mindset.

I teach the following tools in anxiety therapy:

  • Grounding techniques: Skills that help people recenter themselves during times of rumination.
  • Breathing techniques: Taking the time to stop and breathe deeply is really beneficial in signaling to our brain that we are not in danger like our anxiety tends to make us think we are.
  • Cognitive reframing: This involves identifying an individual's thoughts that are causing distress and trying to reframe these into more rational and helpful ones.
