7 Mindfulness Practices To Get You Through Your Day

The stress of life, raising a family and pursuing your personal or professional goals can take a toll on your mental well-being. Many people encounter challenges daily, making it incredibly hard to manage and cope with. By including 7 mindfulness practices to get you through your day, you can relax, breathe easy and clear your thoughts to pursue the necessary tasks.

What is Mindfulness?

The process of mindfulness is one in which we practice sustaining our thoughts and ability to focus on the present moment. Research has shown that being mindful helps to enhance your attention, personal control and introduces the tools you need to cope with life in general. Practicing mindfulness is not a new concept but has been around for some time. It is a great strategy to introduce to your daily life to help you live more positively.

The Following Mindfulness Steps Can Help Get You Through Your Day

1) Relax Before Your Day Starts
Before the start of your day each morning, take a few minutes to simply breathe and be in the moment. Whether it is as you get out of bed, over your morning coffee or in the shower. Stop your thoughts from racing about what to expect in the day ahead and simply keep your thoughts on the very moment you are in. While this may seem easier said than done, practicing this technique daily can help you leave home with a relaxed more confident approach.

2) Be Friendly
When reaching the office, be open to others. Greet people as you pass and engage with others by listening to what they have to say. During presentations, meetings or visiting the local kindergarten class with other parents, avoid interrupting others or correcting their ideas. Simply listen to what they have to say. You can always share your opinion thereafter in a supportive and kind manner.

3) Stay Active
Keep as active as possible throughout the course of the day. While this may be difficult in an office environment, take regular short breaks to stretch and move away from your PC screen.

4) See Your Goals
Take time to visualize your goals and positive results daily. When you see a goal in your minds eye and the steps you need to take to get there, you may be overwhelmed and feel defeated before your journey has even begun. Start with a goal for the day and imagine a positive result.

5) Don’t Judge Yourself
It is normal to feel upset, angry and disappointed but catch yourself when judging yourself. Being mindful is about positivity and realism. Do not beat yourself down and express constant negativity. It creates a limiting way forward.

6) Let Go of the Past
The phrase hindsight is the best sight may be true but let go of the past and things out of your grasp. Looking to the future and the present moment can help you make better informed decisions. Do not hold onto the past.

7) Go Outside
Take time to experience the fresh air. Go outside and look at the world differently from the clouds in the sky to the birds and the people you love, be mindful about what matters and appreciate beautiful things in your life that you may have previously passed.
