What is your go-to approach for cognitive behavioral therapy?

One of the most common therapeutic approaches is CBT. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented talk therapy that helps manage mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, as well as emotional concerns such as coping with grief or stress.

What tools do you teach in cognitive behavioral therapy?

In CBT, you analyze your thoughts and emotions, understand their impact on your actions, unlearn negative thoughts and behaviors, and adopt healthier thinking patterns and habits.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in cognitive behavioral therapy?

Cognitive therapy typically requires time and may involve some uncomfortable tasks. You should consider your therapist as a partner working with you through a process. By continuing to work together toward the goals you've established, you will be able to track your progress over time.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement cognitive behavioral therapy?

To supplement CBT, clients can add some group therapy.

What should someone do to prepare for starting cognitive behavioral therapy?

Don't be discouraged by how long it may take to learn to manage your thoughts and feelings and improve your quality of life. The most important thing is that you're seeking help. Any progress is good progress.

Thriveworks helped me realize that I do believe people can change. I’m not the person I was three months ago, broken and fearful. I’m healthy and happy and for the first time being kind to myself. Thank you for giving me my life back.
