Perhaps mental health is a concept that you hear being discussed more and more, but it’s not necessarily something that seems as important as a doctor’s visit. After all, the physical symptoms of poor health might seem more obvious at first glance. However, at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Raleigh, we know that mental health is every bit as important to your quality of life.
For many of us, assessing mental health can be pretty difficult; after all, it’s not exactly tangible. But when we ignore persistent feelings of negativity and doubt for long periods of time, the damage that can be caused soon becomes evident. As with any problem, the symptoms of negative emotions or mental illness won’t just go away by themselves.
The bottom line is that it’s perfectly fine to seek assistance for what’s troubling you. The emotional turmoil and chaos in our lives that can be caused by mental health issues can be better treated by a qualified mental health professional—like the therapists, psychologists, and psychiatric professionals we have at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Raleigh. We want to connect you with a therapist who cares and helps find the right treatment for you.
What Is the Difference Between Therapy, Counseling, and Psychiatry?
Therapy, provided by our counselors and therapists, addresses emotional and behavioral challenges using therapeutic techniques for mental well-being. Counseling, offered by counselors or therapists, focuses on specific issues and life adjustments, while psychiatry, led by our psychiatric nurse practitioners, involves diagnosing and treating mental health conditions with medication.
What Are the Types of Therapists You Can See?
While availability may vary, at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Raleigh, we offer:
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs): Specialized in social work and counseling for individuals, families, and groups.
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs): Trained to offer counseling services for various emotional and mental health issues.
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs): Focused on relationship and family-related issues.
When you connect with a provider at Thriveworks, you’ll be sharing your experience with an industry-leading expert; someone with the experience and professional insight you need to move forward.

The Benefits of Online Psychiatry Services
Online psychiatry, or telepsychiatry, offers an exciting new way to receive psychiatric treatment. Telepsychiatry allows for more convenient access to your provider, meaning that you can get the prescriptions you need and the same quality of personalized care that you would from an in-person appointment.
Telepsychiatry may be a great choice if you:
- Have mobility problems
- Don’t have any psychiatric providers in your area
- Live far from your provider
- Feel uncomfortable meeting with your provider in person
We want everyone to have access to the mental health services they need. That’s why we offer telepsychiatry services—if you think you could benefit from working with a psychiatric provider, we’ll be happy to set you up with one.
